State Railway kicks off bidding for Bt1.67 billion repair contract

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has published terms of reference for contractors bidding for the contract to repair GEA (General Electric Airbrake) locomotives, acting SRT governor Worawut Mala revealed.

The process will be conducted via electronic bidding, with the mid-price set at Bt1.67 billion, he explained. The public hearing for the deal began on Monday (April 20) and will be held until this July, with the bid winner announced by the end of this year.
Interested parties will be permitted to make a single bid for the contract, which covers repairs on 36 diesel-electric locomotives. The bidding also mandates a pledge of Bt84.60 million.
The contract winner will have a deadline of 1,200 days to complete the project after taking delivery of the locomotives from the SRT.
