Chuti confirms ministry working with NHA on cheap housing for low-income people

Social Development and Human Security Minister Chuti Krairiksh said on Monday (August 10) that his ministry has been working with the National Housing Authority (NHA) on the Ban Suk Pracha project which aims to provide cheap rental housing to low-income earners.

“Under this project, we are aiming to build 100,000 units of quality housing nationwide within five years,” he said. “The ministry has also urged the authority to employ new innovation and digital technology in the housing development as well as to ensure transparency, parity and comprehensiveness of the project to make sure that no underprivileged people are left behind.”
Chuti further added that in the recent meeting with executives from NHA, he has suggested the authority rebrand its approach to improve people’s confidence in NHA as the provider of quality housing to those in need nationwide. “While maintaining good governance practices, NHA must use new technology to move forward in the changing world, as well as establishing positive relationship with local communities by listening to their needs,” he added.
Besides the Ban Suk Pracha project, the NHA also has other projects to be co-managed with the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, including housing projects for senior citizens and the disabled.
