Phetchaburi warns locals of flash floods as river level dangerously high

Phetchaburi provincial officials warned people to move their belongings and sick people to higher places by Sunday afternoon, as the water level in the Phetchaburi River is higher than normal, raising the risk of flash floods.

Phetchaburi Deputy Governor Nathawut Phetpromsorn said on Sunday that the water situation had become serious in Phetchaburi province due to the heavy to very heavy rains in the area. There is a need to drain more water from the dam into the Phetchaburi River, which may cause flooding in the city, the official said.
Due to the construction of the railway bridge, the water level in Phetchaburi River will be higher than normal and there are obstacles in the waterways. Therefore, the official has warned people in the area to move their assets, the elderly, and sick people to a safe place before Sunday afternoon.
