An analyst at Krungsri Securities expected the index to fluctuate near 1,200 points as no new positive economic factor has emerged in the market. The existing factors include the Covid-19 situation and doubts over new economic stimulus in the US.
However, the analyst expected investors to focus on business turnovers in the third quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones decreased by 222 points after the White House signalled that fresh economic stimulus policies would not pass consideration or be introduced before the election next month.
He recommended that investors buy TU, STGT, STA, CBG, SCC, IVL, Com7, Synex, Asian, Hana, SVI and TVO, whose third-quarter performance is expected to improve.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed at 1,208.95 points on Tuesday, up 0.98 points, or 0.08 per cent. The volume of total transactions was Bt45 billion, with an index high of 1,212.03 points and a low of 1,197.74.
