The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) on Friday organised a training course for 300 health volunteers and superintendents of dormitories of migrant labourers in Inmanoradee Temple in Phasi Charoen district.

The temple had been used as a location for a mobile vaccination unit for people in nearby communities after new Covid-19 cluster cases were found in five Bang Khae district markets earlier this month.

The vaccine drive ran from March 17 to 22 with 6,842 people being inoculated.

Chawin Sirinak, BMA’s deputy permanent secretary, said that migrant labourers usually live in crowded spaces and lacked basic knowledge of health and sanitation, putting them at risk of contracting the virus.

“The training course aims to educate our staff to pass on the knowledge of health, sanitation and how to stay safe from Covid-19 to migrant labourers,” he added. “We also train dormitory superintendents on how to clean up and disinfect living quarters properly to curb the spread of Covid-19 and other diseases.”
