Thailand logs 702,217 flood aid registrations by Oct 3

Flood aid registration is open in 65 Thai provinces and all 50 Bangkok districts, offering eligible households 5,000 or 9,000 baht.

  • As of October 3, a total of 702,217 households had registered for flood aid across 65 provinces and all districts of Bangkok.
  • Bangkok recorded the highest number of registrations with 343,545, followed by Samut Prakan and Pathum Thani.
  • The financial assistance provides payments of 5,000 or 9,000 baht per household, with the amount determined by the duration and impact of the flooding.
  • To be eligible, applicants must reside in areas officially declared disaster zones for flooding that occurred between May 15 and September 30, 2026.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said on October 3, 2026, that flood aid registration was open in 65 provinces and all 50 districts of flood-hit Bangkok. The system had recorded 702,217 registrations by 1.30pm.

Bangkok recorded the highest number of registrations at 343,545, followed by Samut Prakan with 95,450 and Pathum Thani with 83,482, according to the DDPM’s figures as of 1.30pm on October 3.

Phased Thang Rath rollout caused initial registration problems

Some applicants were initially unable to register because the system was being activated district by district, the DDPM said. Affected users received a message stating that their address was “not in an area currently open for assistance”.

The DDPM and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) launched flood aid registration through the Thang Rath app on October 2. Access in Bangkok opened progressively by district from 8am, with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration working alongside the two agencies on the rollout.

The DDPM said the registration system would automatically update area statuses to reflect official disaster-zone and emergency disaster assistance declarations.

Household flood aid falls into four payment categories

The DDPM outlined payments of 5,000 or 9,000 baht per household under the Cabinet resolution approved on September 29, with four qualifying categories:

  1. Households whose primary residence was flooded for no more than seven days and whose property was damaged qualify for 9,000 baht per household.
  2. Households whose primary residence was continuously flooded for more than seven days qualify for 9,000 baht per household.
  3. Households whose primary residence was surrounded by floodwater, preventing residents from living normally for more than seven consecutive days, qualify for 5,000 baht per household.
  4. Households whose primary residence is in a high-rise building qualify for 5,000 baht per household when floodwater did not reach their floor but prevented them from living normally for more than seven consecutive days.

The DDPM also listed funeral assistance of 2 million baht per person for deaths caused by flooding or landslides.

Flood dates and disaster declarations determine eligibility

Applicants must live in areas officially declared both disaster zones and emergency disaster assistance areas, the DDPM said. The assistance covers flooding between May 15 and September 30, 2026, in 65 provinces and Bangkok.

The DDPM said it would coordinate with affected provincial authorities and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to accelerate assistance, completing the required procedures as quickly as possible.
