
Reporters said a series of insurgency-related incidents was reported across the three southern border provinces from about 8.15pm on Saturday (August 22, 2026).
The attackers spread out and carried out several types of attack simultaneously at multiple locations, including bombings, arson attacks on government property, robbery and tyre fires used to disrupt traffic on main roads.
Initial reports listed the affected areas as follows.
In Ra-ngae district, bombs were planted at two locations (511), Buke Bue Ro village in Village No. 4 of Marue Botok subdistrict and the road linking Kampong Pare and Kuching Luepa villages.
An arson attack was also reported at the Bo-ngo Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO), while a black Mitsubishi Triton pickup was reported missing from the area.
In Su-ngai Padi district, a bomb targeted a privately owned car on a bend approaching Ban Thamniap.
Four people, comprising one man and three women, were in the car, and two of the women were injured.
Ranger Company 932 personnel assisted and took them to hospital.
In Rueso district, two bombs exploded in succession in the Sawo area.
Another bomb was planted near Skupa village in Si Sakhon district.
In Yi-ngo district, tyres were set alight on Highway 42 near Thung Kha 2 village, Village No. 8, Lahan subdistrict, to cause disruption.
In Raman district, tyres were set alight in Village No. 2 of both Cha-kwa and Kayu Boko subdistricts.
A road in Village No. 2 of Noen Ngam subdistrict was spray-painted.
In Than To district, attackers set fire to a government vehicle at the Ban Rae SAO and a telecommunications mast at Si Tha Nam village.
Another arson attack was carried out in the garage area of Land Development Station Yala.
In Bannang Sata district, tyres were set alight at two locations, outside the Pa Wang sawmill and at the Ngo Kapo three-way junction.
In Yaring district, attackers fired shots to cause disruption and placed a suspicious object at Bang Pu junction at 8.45pm before carrying out an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven Bang Pu branch.
They also set tyres alight on Highway 42 at the U-turn outside Yaring Hospital.
In a nearby area, one fire engine belonging to the Bang Khao SAO was damaged in an arson attack.
Officers had to exercise the utmost caution when entering every affected site because those responsible were carrying out incidents simultaneously at several locations to divert attention.
