Traisulee Traisoranakul, secretary-general to the prime minister, confirmed that His Majesty had appointed Anutin, who also serves as interior minister, to represent him at the ceremony.

The funeral service took place at Oslo Cathedral at 1pm local time. Before the service, the late King’s coffin was carried in a procession from the Royal Palace to the cathedral.

Norwegian mourners lined the route to pay their final respects to the long-reigning monarch. Oslo remained subdued after large numbers of people had travelled to the capital to offer their condolences over the preceding days.

Members of royal families, national leaders, prime ministers and senior representatives from numerous countries joined the ceremony.
