Schools run by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will close on Monday (September 28, 2026) to keep students, parents, teachers and education staff safe.
The BMA’s Department of Education announced the closure on Saturday (September 26).
The department said persistent heavy rain had caused flooding and traffic problems, disrupted daily life in Bangkok, put people in danger and damaged private or government property.
The BMA’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Directorate declared all 50 districts disaster areas on Friday (September 25), so government agencies could respond to the situation.
The closure is intended to give schools time to check potentially damaged property for safety and prepare for lessons and first-term exams in the 2026 academic year.
It also aims to ensure students can travel to school safely and easily.
Schools must notify parents urgently and arrange make-up lessons later.
