Four airlines offer flexible travel options as Bangkok flooding disrupts journeys
AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet have introduced flight-change and travel-credit options for passengers affected by flooding from September 26-28.
Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet have introduced special measures for passengers affected by flooding and traffic disruption in Bangkok and surrounding areas between September 26 and 28.
Persistent rain has caused widespread flooding and severe congestion, making it more difficult for passengers to reach Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports on time.
Thai AirAsia offers free flight changes and travel credit
Thai AirAsia, operating under flight code FD, Thai AirAsia X under XJ, and other AirAsia Group flights serving Bangkok are offering two options for affected passengers travelling to or from Bangkok between September 26 and 28.
Passengers may change their flight once free of charge on the same route, with the new journey taking place within seven days of the original travel date, subject to seat availability.
Alternatively, they may retain the value of their booking in an AirAsia Credit Account, which can be used to make a new reservation within two years of the credit being approved.
Nok Air allows one free change or full-value voucher
Nok Air’s assistance applies to passengers departing from Don Mueang Airport, or those who missed their flight there because of flooding, on September 26.
Passengers may change their flight once within 30 days of the original travel date, with both the change fee and any fare difference waived.
They may instead receive a voucher worth 100% of the ticket value, valid for 30 days.
Passengers can contact Nok Air through its customer service centre on 1318, online channels or airport ticket offices.
Thai Lion Air offers 30-day credit and free rebooking
Thai Lion Air has introduced measures for domestic and international passengers travelling between September 26 and 28.
Passengers who are unable to contact the airline before departure and miss their travel date will have the value of their ticket retained as credit for 30 days.
They may then contact the airline later to change their journey to a date within 30 days of the original departure.
Thai passengers may also choose either to retain ticket credit for 30 days from the original travel date or change their flight once free of charge within the same 30-day period.
For travel changed to a public holiday or long holiday period, passengers may have to pay any fare difference, although the change fee will be waived.
Other conditions remain subject to the airline’s rules.
Thai Vietjet offers free change or 180-day credit
Thai Vietjet has announced assistance for passengers holding tickets for flights arriving at or departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) between September 26 and 28.
Passengers can choose one of two options.
The first is a one-time flight change free of charge on the same route, with the new journey taking place within seven calendar days of the original travel date and subject to seat availability.
The second is to retain the value of the ticket as Credit Shell, valid for 180 days.
Passengers are advised to contact their airline directly and check the specific conditions that apply to their booking before making changes.
