Officials have warned evacuated residents in Rayong's Klaeng district not to return to low-lying riverside areas under any circumstances.
The Prasae canal has surged, with water levels rising 68 centimetres above its banks and flow rates exceeding the critical threshold.
The situation is worsening rapidly, with one monitoring station recording a water level increase of 15 centimetres in a single hour.
Downstream communities face a high risk of sudden flooding due to the large volume of water and increasingly strong currents.

Ekkaphop Phianphiset, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, warned on Monday (September 28, 2026) that people evacuated because of flooding in Rayong must not return to low-lying riverside areas in Klaeng district. Water in Prasae canal had risen 68 centimetres above the banks, with downstream communities facing the risk of sudden flooding.

At the Z.11 monitoring station in Ban Khao Wang Sai, Klaeng district, the water level reached 7.21 metres at 10am, up from 7.06 metres at 9am, Ekkaphop reported. The readings showed a rise of 15 centimetres within one hour.

Water flow at the monitoring point had increased to 205.20 cubic metres per second, exceeding the critical threshold of 168.00 cubic metres per second, according to Ekkaphop.

A large volume of water from upstream had already reached the area, driving rapid rises in water levels and increasingly strong currents in Prasae canal and nearby areas, the spokesman added.

“People who have already evacuated must not return to low-lying riverside areas under any circumstances. Please remain in safe areas,” Ekkaphop said.

Residents in low-lying and downstream areas should exercise additional caution and closely follow official warnings, Ekkaphop urged, because water levels could rise and overflow into surrounding communities suddenly.

Anyone needing assistance should contact officials immediately, Ekkaphop said, adding that government agencies were urgently mobilising personnel to help affected residents to the fullest extent possible.
