DDPM issues flood alerts for two rivers on September 29
Flood alerts were sent to riverside communities in Prachin Buri and Phetchaburi as rising water and a dam release raised overflow risks.

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued Cell Broadcast flood warnings on Tuesday (September 29) for riverside and low-lying communities along the Prachin Buri and Phetchaburi rivers after identifying two areas at risk of flash flooding and river overflow.
The alerts cover rising water in Prachin Buri, where homes have already been affected across seven districts, and Ban Laem district in Phetchaburi, where a dam release combined with high tide could cause the Phetchaburi River to overflow its banks.
Prachin Buri River continues to rise
The DDPM said the Prachin Buri River was continuing to rise after flooding affected homes in seven districts. Areas highlighted in the warning included Prachin Buri City Municipality, Si Maha Phot, Si Mahosot, Nadi, Kabin Buri, Prachantakham and Ban Sang, as well as nearby communities.
People living along the river, in low-lying areas or other locations at risk were urged to immediately move belongings and vehicles to higher ground, secure valuables and important documents, and take precautions against electric shock.
The DDPM also advised residents to move vulnerable people to safety and evacuate to shelters immediately where necessary. Anyone requiring assistance was told to contact their kamnan, village head or community leader.
The DDPM worked with mobile operators AIS, True and NT to send Cell Broadcast alerts to people in areas threatened by flooding in Prachin Buri.
Phetchaburi Dam release raises Ban Laem overflow risk
In Phetchaburi, the DDPM warned that the Phetchaburi Dam was releasing water downstream at 93.3 cubic metres per second, increasing the risk of the Phetchaburi River overflowing in Ban Laem district.
The risk is being compounded by high tide, prompting authorities to urge people living along the Phetchaburi River and in low-lying parts of Ban Laem to closely monitor water conditions.
Residents were advised to move belongings and vehicles to higher ground, secure valuables and important documents, guard against electric shock and take care of vulnerable people.
