DDPM issues Cell Broadcast flood alerts for Phetchaburi, Prachin Buri

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued alerts on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), warning of rising water in Phetchaburi and urging residents in flood-risk areas of Prachin Buri to evacuate to shelters immediately.

The water level at Kaeng Krachan reservoir in Phetchaburi was rising by 2cm an hour, raising the risk of overflow through the spillway.

Discharge through the spillway would be limited to no more than 100 cubic metres per second.

The water level in the Phetchaburi River below the dam remained unchanged, but overflow would affect areas downstream of the spillway before reaching the river.

The warning covered Tha Mai Ruak, Klat Luang and Tha Khoi subdistricts in Tha Yang district, and Kaeng Krachan and Song Phi Nong subdistricts in Kaeng Krachan district.

Residents and businesses downstream of the spillway, along the river and in low-lying areas were advised to monitor conditions, move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, secure important documents, guard against electric shocks and look after vulnerable people.

Those needing help should contact subdistrict headmen, village headmen or community leaders.

In Prachin Buri, the alert covered Mueang Prachin Buri, Prachantakham and Ban Sang districts, with water levels expected to rise by another 50cm.

Flooding had reached critical levels in several areas, particularly the Prachin Buri municipal area and Prachantakham and Ban Sang districts.

Residents in at-risk areas were also urged to move vehicles to higher ground immediately and follow officials’ instructions.

The DDPM sent the alerts through the Cell Broadcast Service in cooperation with mobile network operators Advanced Info Service (AIS), True and National Telecom (NT).
