Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul ordered every province on October 1, 2026, to prepare for another round of rain, with rainfall expected to increase from October 4–5 onwards. Authorities in areas still affected by flooding were told to urgently assess how much more water they can accommodate and put preventive measures in place.
Anutin issued the orders at the close of a National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), where officials reviewed the flood situation and assistance for affected residents.
Anutin instructed provinces to compile inventories of personnel and equipment, including pumps, boats, rescue vehicles, lorries and machinery, for immediate transfer between provinces. Sending and receiving areas must be clearly identified so resources can be deployed quickly and efficiently.
Provinces along major rivers, particularly the Chao Phraya, Tha Chin and Mae Klong, must maintain the highest level of readiness, Anutin instructed. Authorities must issue continuous warnings so residents can move belongings to higher ground and reach safe areas in time, with no one left stranded and no vehicles left to become submerged in high-risk areas.
Anutin also ordered local agencies to follow a “one area, one set of information” approach to flood warnings and public updates. Agencies within the same area must use shared data when water levels or discharge rates change, to prevent confusion and inaccurate information.
Anutin directed agencies to concentrate government personnel and resources in areas with the greatest need, particularly communities cut off by flooding. Operational teams must reach residents with support from boats, high-clearance vehicles and military vehicles.
Anutin also called for a delivery system to ensure food, drinking water, medicines and other essentials reach all affected residents.
Deputy provincial governors, provincial chief administrative officers and district chiefs were instructed by Anutin to remain on duty in their areas and closely oversee operations so they could mobilise resources and assist residents promptly.
Anutin directed provincial governors and the Bangkok governor to safeguard residents’ welfare, particularly supplies of food, drinking water and medicines. People evacuated from high-risk areas must continue receiving care until conditions improve.
Authorities in areas where floodwater is receding were ordered by Anutin to accelerate pumping and prepare personnel and machinery for recovery work. The work includes cleaning roads, homes and other affected areas so residents can return to normal life as quickly as possible.
