Thailand flood aid registrations exceed 1.05 million households

More than 1.05 million households have registered for flood aid via the Thang Rath app, with Bangkok leading at 458,987, DDPM reports.

  • Over 1.05 million households have registered for flood assistance nationwide using the Thang Rath app.
  • Bangkok has the highest number of applicants, accounting for more than 458,000 of the total registrations.
  • Financial aid for eligible households ranges from THB 5,000 to THB 9,000, depending on the duration and impact of the flooding.
  • Following verification by local authorities, payments are expected to be transferred to affected households within two to three days.

More than 1.05 million households have registered for flood assistance through the Thang Rath app, with Bangkok accounting for the largest number of applications, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).

As of 7am on October 5, 2026, registrations stood at 1,056,361 households nationwide, according to Sirithorn Somsuwan, director of the DDPM’s Public Relations Division.

Bangkok recorded 458,987 registrations, an increase of more than 100,000 from the previous day, as applications continued to rise.

Bangkok leads flood aid registrations

The five areas with the highest numbers of registrations were:

  • Bangkok: 458,987 households
  • Samut Prakan: 149,194 households
  • Pathum Thani: 130,010 households
  • Chachoengsao: 42,531 households
  • Rayong: 36,016 households

Under the assistance criteria, households whose primary residence was flooded for no more than seven days and sustained property damage are eligible for THB9,000. The same amount is available if a primary residence remained continuously flooded for seven days or longer.

Households whose primary residence or high-rise residential building was surrounded by floodwater for seven days or longer are eligible for THB5,000.

Payments expected within two to three days after verification

Sirithorn noted that the prime minister had instructed agencies to accelerate assistance for flood-affected residents.

DDPM has therefore coordinated with Bangkok and 75 provinces affected by flooding to speed up damage surveys, eligibility checks and confirmation of information on affected households.

Once local administrative organisations, Bangkok authorities and provincial administrations complete their surveys and submit verified information to DDPM, the department can forward the confirmed data to the Government Savings Bank for payment.

If the information is complete and has been verified, transfers are expected to be made within two to three days, or no later than the end of this week.

Applicants urged to check disaster area details

People who receive a message through the Thang Rath app stating that they are “not in the area” or “outside the disaster area” should first check the designated affected area with their local administrative organisation or district office.

Selecting an incorrect disaster area could prevent the system from verifying the application.

Those who have successfully registered can review and amend their details through the “My Applications” menu.

DDPM has also urged applicants to check the date on which the disaster occurred and ensure it reflects the actual circumstances, particularly where eligibility depends on flooding lasting seven days or longer.

Applicants should carefully review their disaster area, residence information and the dates entered before confirming their applications, as discrepancies could affect eligibility checks.

Authorities told to explain different forms of assistance

DDPM has instructed local administrative organisations, Bangkok authorities and provincial administrations to ensure residents understand the types of assistance available and the eligibility criteria.

Flood assistance includes both government emergency advance funds for disaster victims and financial assistance approved by the Cabinet, which are subject to different conditions and procedures.

Authorities have therefore been asked to explain which type of assistance residents may be eligible for, how to apply and what information they need to check, to reduce confusion and applications submitted under the wrong category or with inaccurate information.
