The Royal Irrigation Department has begun gradually reducing water discharge from Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat province, with the flow rate expected to reach 1,000 cubic metres per second by 8pm on Sunday (October 25).
The reduction began at 10am, with the discharge rate set to fall from 1,100 cubic metres per second in hourly increments of approximately 10 cubic metres per second.
Once the target rate of 1,000 cubic metres per second is reached, the department plans to maintain that level.
The adjustment follows readings taken at 6am on October 25, which showed declining flows at two monitoring stations along the Chao Phraya River.
At monitoring station C.2 in Mueang district, Nakhon Sawan province, the flow rate was 1,131 cubic metres per second.
Meanwhile, station C.13 at Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat recorded 1,100 cubic metres per second. Both stations showed downward trends.
The Royal Irrigation Department will continue to monitor rainfall and river flows upstream closely.
The department is prepared to adjust its water management plans in line with changing conditions to maintain appropriate discharge rates.
