The Thai Meteorological Department issued warning No. 9 on heavy to very heavy rain in southern Thailand and unsettled weather in upper Thailand at 5pm on Tuesday (October 27, 2026).
The warning remains in effect until October 28.
Rain will continue across southern Thailand with isolated heavy falls.
Residents should beware of accumulated rainfall that could cause flash floods and mountain runoff, particularly near waterways at the foot of hills and in lowland areas.
Low-lying areas are especially at risk of standing floodwater.
Meanwhile, rainfall across upper Thailand will decrease on Tuesday, although gusty winds will persist, with isolated heavy rain in the Central region.
Residents should beware of thunderstorms and gusty winds, avoid open areas, and stay away from large trees and unsecured billboards.
A high-pressure system, or cold air mass, from China now covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea, bringing easterly winds across upper Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area is moving along a monsoon trough extending across southern Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
Waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will exceed two metres in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
Mariners in both areas should check their routes, navigate with caution and avoid sailing through thunderstorms.
People are urged to plan their daily activities and travel carefully during this period to stay safe and reduce potential impacts.
They should continue to follow the department’s announcements.
