The Thai Meteorological Department issued a weather advisory at 5pm on Thursday (November 5, 2026), forecasting unsettled weather in upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in the South from November 5 to 9.
Upper Thailand is expected to see thundershowers, gusty winds, hail and isolated heavy rain from November 5 to 7.
The Northeast will be affected first, followed by the North, the Central region, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas, and the East.
The department advised people to take precautions during storms and avoid open ground, areas beneath large trees and places near unsecured billboards.
Rainfall in the South is forecast to increase from November 7 to 9, with heavy rain in many areas and isolated very heavy rain.
The department advised residents to watch for flash floods and rapid run-off from the hills as rainfall accumulates, particularly on foothill slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas.
Another high-pressure system or cold air mass from China will spread over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, strengthening the easterly winds blowing across Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
Waves are expected to exceed 2 metres in areas with thundershowers in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Mariners in both waters were advised to navigate with caution and avoid those areas.
The department urged people to plan their daily activities and travel carefully to stay safe and minimise potential impacts, and to keep following its advisories.
Updates are available around the clock on 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182 and at www.tmd.go.th. The next advisory is due at 5am on November 6.
