Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom from September 20-27, 2026, combining participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) with an investment roadshow and talks on digital technology.
Government spokesman Ekkapop Pianpises said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow and Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob would accompany Anutin.
The trip aims to strengthen international relations and cooperation across foreign affairs, the economy, trade, investment, technology and digital development.
Executives from the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will join the delegation to showcase Thailand’s capital markets, strengthen confidence in the economy and connect with leading international investors and financial institutions.
Anutin and his delegation will leave Thailand for Tokyo on the morning of September 20.
On September 21, he is scheduled to meet Thai athletes competing in the 20th Asian Games to offer encouragement and guidance. He will also chair a meeting of Team Thailand representatives in Japan before travelling onwards to New York.
During the US visit, Chaichanok will use a dinner jointly hosted by the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) to meet executives from leading American technology companies, including Apple, Google and Microsoft.
The discussions will seek to strengthen international technology partnerships and present Thailand’s potential as a base for digital and technology investment and business development. They will also explore practical cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, digital skills and emerging technologies.
Anutin will subsequently travel to London, accompanied by SET executives for the capital-market component of the visit.
He is scheduled to meet UK institutional investors in cooperation with UBS Group AG, presenting Thailand’s economic outlook and investment opportunities in its capital markets.
The roadshow aims to build confidence among international institutional investors, broaden Thailand’s foreign investor base and strengthen connections with global financial centres. The government hopes these relationships will help attract more long-term investment into the country.
At United Nations headquarters in New York, Anutin’s programme includes the opening ceremony and General Debate, alongside meetings with leaders and senior representatives from other countries.
Scheduled discussions include meetings with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the prime ministers of Bhutan, Armenia and Bangladesh, and the UN secretary-general.
Anutin is due to deliver Thailand’s address to the General Debate on September 24.
The theme of UNGA81 is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All”, focusing on rebuilding confidence and managing change so that the organisation can respond to contemporary global challenges and deliver benefits for everyone.
The government views the meeting as an opportunity for Thailand to present its role and perspectives to the international community and advance cooperation that benefits the country and its people.
Alongside his UN engagements, Anutin will meet major US businesses and investors.
On September 22, he is scheduled to attend an investor roundtable organised with Bank of America and Jefferies Group, and hold talks with executives from Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO).
He will also attend the USABC-USCC dinner and address American business leaders, seeking to strengthen confidence in Thailand’s economic potential, attract investment and expand Thai-US economic cooperation.
Another key element of the trip is cooperation in the digital economy, technology and AI.
On September 23, Anutin is scheduled to visit Google and meet Ruth Porat, president and chief investment officer of Alphabet and Google.
Chaichanok will join the discussions on digital and technology cooperation. The delegation will also view Google innovations, particularly interactive AI technologies and digital solutions that could be applied to economic development and services.
The digital economy minister will discuss ways to strengthen Thailand’s digital and AI ecosystem, develop digital infrastructure and improve the digital and AI skills of Thai workers.
The talks will also address creating an environment conducive to investment and business operations by global technology companies.
These efforts are intended to support Thailand’s transition to a digital economy, improve competitiveness and enable Thai businesses, entrepreneurs and the public to make practical use of new technologies.
In the United Kingdom, Anutin is also scheduled to meet representatives of leading businesses, including Virgin Atlantic and Rolls-Royce, to explore commercial opportunities, investment and cooperation with the British private sector.
After completing their programme on September 25, the prime minister and his delegation will leave the UK for Thailand. They are scheduled to arrive home on the morning of September 27.
The delegation will include Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, chairman of FETCO, and Asadej Kongsiri, president of the SET.
“The prime minister is using his participation in UNGA81 to open doors to global economic and investment cooperation, while leading Thailand’s roadshow delegation to create opportunities and advance the economy through capital markets,” Ekkapop said.
“Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn and Asadej Kongsiri will join the visit to establish direct connections with financial institutions, investors and leading companies in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
“The delegation will present Thailand’s potential and its capital markets to the global investment community, broaden the foreign investor base and build confidence to attract long-term capital into Thailand.
“This will support economic growth and ultimately lead to investment, employment, income and tangible benefits for the Thai people.”
