LOT Polish Airlines launches direct Warsaw–Bangkok flights

LOT Polish Airlines is set to operate five weekly Warsaw–Bangkok flights from October 26 as Thailand forecasts about 250,000 Polish visitors in 2026.

  • LOT Polish Airlines has resumed direct flights between Warsaw, Poland, and Bangkok, Thailand, in October 2026, ending a 26-year absence of a direct air link.
  • The new service, operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will begin with three weekly flights before increasing to five per week for the winter tourism season.
  • Launched in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the route aims to attract high-value tourists from Poland and Central Europe and boost Thailand's position as a regional travel hub.
  • Following the restoration of the direct connection, Thailand forecasts it will welcome approximately 250,000 Polish visitors in 2026.

LOT Polish Airlines’ inaugural Warsaw–Bangkok service has marked the return of direct flights between Poland and Thailand for the first time in 26 years.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said on Thursday (October 8, 2026) that TAT and Poland’s national carrier had jointly welcomed the flight.

Thapanee said LOT’s new Warsaw–Bangkok service reflected international airlines’ confidence in Thailand’s tourism potential.

She said the route would help attract high-value visitors from Poland and Central Europe and strengthen Thailand’s position as a global tourism destination and an important travel hub in Southeast Asia.

TAT said the Warsaw–Bangkok route was a key step in expanding Thailand’s long-haul visitor markets, improving air connectivity and increasing tourism revenue through visits that bring greater economic value.

The agency is focusing on travellers with strong spending power who prefer longer holidays and want a variety of experiences.

LOT’s inaugural Warsaw–Bangkok flight, LO65, left Warsaw at 3.45pm local time on October 7 and reached Suvarnabhumi Airport at 7.05am on October 8 aboard a 252-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

LOT is operating three flights a week from October 7–25, with the frequency set to rise to five a week from October 26, throughout the winter tourism season to meet rising demand.

Warsaw–Bangkok flights to ease travel from Poland and Central Europe

TAT said the Warsaw–Bangkok service would create economic and tourism opportunities between Thailand and Central Europe by shortening journeys and simplifying travel for visitors from Poland and the wider region.

The agency expects the service to strengthen Bangkok’s role as a hub for travel to member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), while giving Thai travellers access via Warsaw to more than 100 destinations in LOT’s network.

TAT said additional direct flights would help spread tourism revenue by encouraging Polish visitors to travel to popular destinations including Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phuket, Krabi and Ko Samui.

The connection would also create opportunities to promote secondary destinations and new itineraries, distribute visitor flows more widely and extend economic benefits throughout Thailand.

Thailand forecasts about 250,000 Polish visitors in 2026

Thailand welcomed 237,570 Polish visitors in 2025, an increase of 31.46%, and TAT forecasts about 250,000 arrivals from Poland in 2026.

TAT described Poland as one of its promising European markets, with strong growth offering opportunities to attract more high-value visitors from Central Europe over the long term.

TAT is also strengthening cooperation with tourism partners in Poland through a familiarisation trip, leading a group of 30 tourism operators, media representatives and airline executives to explore tourism products and experiences along the Bangkok–Rayong route.

The visit aims to build awareness, encourage sales and present new aspects of Thailand to the Polish market.

TAT aims to turn additional direct flights into economic growth, combining higher visitor numbers with more revenue per trip, longer stays and wider benefits for tourism businesses and local communities.

TAT said the route supports Thailand’s goal of becoming a High-Value & Meaningful Destination, creating new opportunities between Thailand and Central Europe and reinforcing the country’s readiness to welcome travellers from around the world.
