Honest students get just reward

Re: "What do you do when you find cash in the street", Opinion, June 23.

Having read the above article, I would like to remind readers that in spite of all the goings-on in high places in this country, there are still many people at a lower level who are as honest as the day is long.
A few months ago I foolishly left my wallet, including cash and credit cards, in a supermarket trolley when loading my car and drove off. When I got home there was a telephone call from Tesco Lotus near Thepprasit Road in Pattaya informing me that the wallet had been handed in to the information desk. I hurried back and picked it up completely intact, but there was a phone number with it. I phoned the number and very soon met the young students from a nearby college who’d handed it in. Of course I gave them a generous reward for their honesty and for helping me to recover the wallet quickly.
Maybe some of our people in high places can learn something from this. I hope so – it is needed!
