WPP Group's Landor Associates, a global community of brand strategists and designers, has opened an office in Bangkok so that it can cash in on the advantages offered by the Asean Economic Community (AEC), which comes into effect in 2015.

The office – Landor’s first in Thai-land, 12th in the Asia-Pacific region and 24th globally – will function as the central point of operations for work in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. It will be headed by Joyce Pau, the company’s senior client manager.
Henry Chan, president of Landor’s Greater China region, said: “His-torically, Thailand has been an important market for us, and provided some of our strongest portfolio pieces, including the original version of the iconic Thai Airways identity.
“As we broaden our strength in Asia as a whole, and as we become more convinced of the future economic growth of the Thai [part of the] region in particular, it only made sense to expand there. We look forward to better serving our local and international clients, in part by connecting them to our global network in new and exciting ways.”
The Bangkok office will draw upon the consulting and design resources of other Landor offices in the larger Asia-Pacific region.
With prior marketing experience working with Caltex, PTT and S&P Group, a key goal of the office is to provide world-class service to clients headquartered in the business and financial capital of Thailand and the regional crossroads for Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, the company said.
Helping brands differentiate and excel in an already competitive market place is of particular importance as the opening of the AEC looms large.
