World No 1 Serena Williams used her trademark power game to thrash Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-0 6-4 in just 64 minutes of their semi-final match of the Australian Open on Thursday.

Williams, the reigning champion, unleashed rocket serves and fierce groundstrokes to tame the world No 4 under the closed roof of the Rod Lever Arena. She is in her seventh Australian Open final, her 26 th Major final.

She will face German Angelique Kerber who ended the surprise run of Johanna Konta of Great Britain 7-5 6-2 in the Saturday's final.

“I’m excited to be in another final. It blows my mind right now. I can’t believe I’m in the final. Physically I’m feeling better than last year but mentally I need a break after the US Open. I can’t believe I can do this well so fast,” said Williams.

“She started playing really well in the second set, making a lot of good shots and hit really deep. I had to figure out something if I want to stay in here. Then I started playing aggressive again and go back to what I have been doing all week and it kind of worked out,” Serena talked about Radwanska.

“I’ve never played Konta but Angelique I’ve played her a few times. But honestly it’s a little surprise (to be in the final). I took so much time off. I’ve tried to prepare for this. What ever happens I’m happy to come out to play another final. It’s going to be great no matter what.”

Kerber is in her first Major final appearance. It's been a long time since a German won in Melbourne. Steffi Graff is the last German to win the Australian Open in 1994.

"It's really special to reach my first Grand Slam final. I tried to put every ball on court. Konta is a good player, she will win more tournaments in the future. Serena is the great champion. I have nothing to lose in the final," said Kerber.
