Re: “PM urges Thais to wear period costumes for outings”, The Nation, March 17.

Everyone knows these costumes are not traditional Thai clothing, but the wealthy insist on lying to themselves and wearing them.
This is especially hilarious give that the costumes in question are mere copies of Chinese and Japanese styles introduced into this part of Asia by Westerners.
As little as 50 years ago, many Thai women didn’t even wear shirts.
