True Corporation has urgently mobilised its northern network teams to protect mobile and home internet services during severe flooding in Nan and Phayao provinces.
Continuous heavy rain has triggered flash floods, particularly in Pua district of Nan, where rapidly rising water has affected homes and major transport routes.
On Wednesday (August 19), the company was closely monitoring the flood situation, the condition of its mobile and home broadband networks, and the wider impact on affected communities.
The company has established a northern command centre at its Chiang Mai office to coordinate operations. Field teams, equipment, backup power systems and rapid-response Cells on Wheels, or COWs, are being prepared and deployed from across the North to support Nan.
The measures are intended to maintain communications for residents and agencies working in areas affected by the floods.
True has also worked with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to issue a severe emergency warning through the Cell Broadcast system to people in Pua district.
Residents were advised to remain alert for flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides, while moving belongings to higher ground.
The warning also urged people to relocate vulnerable residents, including older people and bedridden patients, to safe areas and seek assistance from local authorities where evacuation was necessary.
True has prioritised base stations in high-risk areas, particularly critical cell sites supporting hospitals, command centres, public assistance centres and essential infrastructure.
Network teams are closely monitoring electricity supplies, transmission links, access to affected areas and the operating status of individual base stations. This information will be used to assess risks and accelerate repairs should the network be disrupted.
The company has prepared COW vehicles, temporary base stations, generators, backup power supplies, field equipment and other necessary vehicles.
Repair and signal-support teams are ready to enter affected areas as soon as access can be achieved safely.
True is coordinating closely with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, government agencies, local administrative organisations, rescue units and other relevant bodies.
The cooperation will support communications in disaster-hit communities, temporary shelters and emergency assistance centres.
True said maintaining uninterrupted mobile and home internet connectivity during the crisis was a priority, allowing people to contact family members, request assistance and continue receiving official emergency warnings.
Reliable communications will also support coordination between rescue workers and government officials responding to the floods.
Field teams will follow government safety guidance and assess conditions on the ground before entering affected areas, enabling them to repair and restore networks as quickly and safely as possible.
