NHA to launch 38 low-cost projects

The National Housing Authority plans to launch 38 residential projects comprising 16,146 units worth Bt9.5 billion combined during the next quarter, as part of its programme to supply budget projects nationwide.

The new projects are the first stage of a wider business plan to develop 96 low-cost projects from 2014-2017, comprising 49,769 units worth Bt34.19 billion combined, said NHA president Kritsada Raksakul.
Bt25.9 billion of the overall investment budget will be in the form of bank borrowings, Bt4.43 billion from the NHA’s budget, and Bt3.86 billion as a subsidy from the government’s budget, he said.
The expenditure plan was approved by the National Council for Peace and Order on August 26.
Kritsada added that in the first phase through to the end of this year, 16 projects comprising 6,103 units will be launched from September 27 to October 6; 17 projects comprising 6,515 units will launch from October 24 to November 2; and five projects comprising 3,528 units will launch from November 21-30.
All phase-one projects will commence construction in the first quarter of next year, with those that have sold at least 50 per cent of their value being the first to be started, he said.
The other 58 projects – worth Bt24.69 billion combined – will be launched during the second phase of the programme, from 2015 through to the end of 2017.
The 38 projects set to be launched in the last quarter of this year will be located in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Chanthaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Samut Prakan, Chon Buri, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Si Saket, Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phetchabun and Ayutthaya provinces.
They will be a mix of condominiums, detached housing and townhouses.
The programme is in line with the government’s policy to open up opportunities for more lower-income people to own a home, said the agency chief.
He said the NHA’s “Home Fair 2014” from August 22-31 saw more than 3,000 people register an interest in buying one of the authority’s homes.
It is these people who are now forming the customer base for launching the first 38 projects, he added.
“We believe that our new projects will be sold out, based on customer demand nationwide,” said Kritsada.
