Superb Luksika saves match point to upset Wickmayer

“I really fought for myself. I’m so happy to win this match. I really don’t know what to say,” said the 124th ranked player.

“At the start of the first set, I was thinking I have nothing to lose. I tried to run for every ball, focus on point by point., trying to win that point, that game to come back (for 6-6),” said Luksika who had her mother and grandmother support from the courtside.

“It’s better than to travel and play aboard as here at home I have their support. I also have big support from fans today. That’s why I love to play in Thailand.”

Luksika is now in the quarter-final for the second time in this tournament. She will face Swiss Viktorija Golubic on Friday.

“She is a tough player. I’m going to fight like today. I will try my best in singles and doubles.”
