Mercedes-Benz sees May sales record

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has set a new sales record for May, selling 706 vehicles, up 100 per cent from the corresponding month last year.

According to Martin Schulz, vice president for sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand), sales in the first five months of the year were also up.
“Mercedes-Benz Thailand sales for the first five months continued to grow with a total of 2,316 vehicles, an increase of 13.5 per cent, which conform to the recovery of automotive industry. Beyond that satisfying result, May turned out to be an impressive month with record sales of 706 vehicles, which doubles the sales figure of the same period last year and makes it the second best month since our establishment in Thailand,” he said.
“A key ingredient of our success in May was the right mix of product offerings to ensure a well-met market demand and well-served lifestyle needs of our customers, with the Asean premiere of the new M-Class and the new B-Class as well as other vehicles including the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class and especially our C200 BlueEfficiency models, which are our key strengths in responding to the demand of every group of customers,” he said.
Meanwhile, there was a shift in consumer behaviour towards buying from authorised dealers, Schulz said.
“Customers can foresee the advantages of buying from authorized dealers, especially in terms of better cost of ownership and better resale value in comparison with parallel imported vehicles. In addition, they are confident in the reliability of after-sales service and privileges provided by our authorised dealer network. This includes 3-year warranty with unlimited mileage, the exclusive 24-hour Star Assist roadside assistance programme, peace of mind as genuine parts are imported directly from Mercedes-Benz in Germany, and a nationwide network of 30 authorised service centres,” he added.
Said marketing and communications general manager Komkrit Nongsawat: “In the latter half of the year we will  continue to deliver the new M-Class and the new B-Class to our customers. At the same time we’re gearing up the luxury car market by launching promotional campaigns as well as using online media to reach targeted customers of every age, and introducing new vehicles.”
