EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service by using cloud computing as fundamental services.
EMC said it realized that the IT departments of all organisations wan to reduce cost while catching up with technology trends of mobility and social networking, as well as cloud computing and Big Data, so EMC will focus on the following businesses:
1. Storage
EMC has a family of primary storage arrays – from the VMAX to the VNX to the Isilon for capacity – because one size does not fit all in storage. It would be impossible to practically support all of the different workloads with a single architecture. Throughout 2013, EMC will innovate to expand each of its storage lines, close gaps and scale to address new types of workloads that are evolving in enterprises & cloud environments.
2. Cloud Computing
EMC’s biggest opportunity continues to be helping customers transition from a physical data center to a virtualized one that is cloud computing, and the company is also actively supporting service providers in this area. EMC’s offers organizations a broad and comprehensive portfolio of cloud computing architecture through three routes:
- Providing best-of-breed infrastructure components for organizations to architect their own cloud system;
- Providing full converged cloud solutions from cloud components that are pre-configured, pre-integrated and pre-tested via our Vblock systems;
- Providing proven and reference VSPEX cloud architectures with configurable technology options from industry leaders through EMC’s channel partners to offer greater choice for customers.
3. Big Data
EMC’s suite of Big Data solutions and platforms offered through its Greenplum division helps customers process and collate data as well as find new and valuable insights for more predictable business outcomes.
4. Partners
The channel represents a huge opportunity for EMC to extend its scale and reach to both the partners’ existing and prospective customers that EMC doesn’t already hold a relationship with. To build out its channel capabilities in 2013, EMC will continue to build industry-leading products and solutions that are channel-friendly, as well as develop channel programs that offer its growing network of partners greater simplicity, profitability and predictability when working with EMC.
5. Market focus & expansion
EMC has strong business footprint in enterprise market and it will continue to have more share. In the meantime, EMC wants to expand its business in mid-market (commercial). In short, EMC will continue to dedicate itself to helping our customers transform their IT infrastructures to fully leverage the benefits of cloud and big data, it announced.
