Jag F-Type roars into Thailand

Ranging in price from Bt8.5 million to Bt10.75 million, this advanced speedster features a lightweight aluminium architecture

The Jaguar F-Type, which was first unveiled in Paris almost a year ago, has now arrived in Thailand, with prices ranging from Bt8.5 million to Bt10.75 million.
“Jaguar is a founder member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-Type we’ve reignited that flame,” said Global Brand director Adrian Hallmark. “The F-Type isn’t designed to be like anyone else’s sports car. It’s a Jaguar sports car – ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive.”
The engineering concept of the F-Type is centered on Jaguar’s industry-leading expertise in the use of aluminium. A large amount of recyclable plastics also play a big part. According to Jaguar, the F-Type is 85 per cent recyclable and 95 per cent recoverable.
Featuring what Jaguar says is its most advanced iteration of rigid and lightweight aluminium architecture to date, the F-Type has ideally balanced weight distribution that allows its rear-wheel drive dynamics to be explored to the full. Utilising extensive Computer Aided Engineering programs, the attention to detail in the F-Type’s creation even extended to the development of a new, lighter, aluminium front subframe.
To maximise the benefits of its advanced structure, the F-Type features all-aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension and a quick-ratio steering rack for ultimate responsiveness. The aluminium architecture has been optimised to provide the stiffest possible underpinnings for the suspension with rigidity gains of more than 30 per cent in key areas compared to any other Jaguar application. The V6 models are joined by a newly developed member of Jaguar’s V8 engine family.
Producing 495PS and 625Nm of torque, the F-Type V8 S (Bt10.75 million) has an astonishing torque-to-weight ratio of 375Nm/tonne, accelerates from 0-100kmph in 4.3 seconds and roars to an electronically limited top speed of 300kmph while emitting 259g/km of CO2. The 380PS V6 F-Type S (Bt9.75 million) covers the 0-100kmph dash in 4.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 275kmph, with CO2 emissions of 213g/km. The 340PS V6 F-Type (Bt8.5 million) accelerates from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds and races on to an electronically limited top speed of 260kmph, while emitting 209g/km of CO2.
An active exhaust system, which is standard on the S and V8 S models, adds another dimension of driver engagement. Valves in the exhaust system open under load from 3000rpm, which allows the exhaust note to build to a thrilling crescendo at the red line. Transmission is a close-ratio 8-speed automatic featuring steering wheel shift paddles, and its Active Sports Exhaust produces a “rich, satisfying howl” in the upper rev range. The F-Type also boasts a 12-second electric roof operation, a Blind Spot Monitor, a reverse sensor with camera as well as an engine start-stop system.
The F-Type has won the 2013 World Car Design of the Year award, beating 43 others vehicles.
The Jaguar brand, as well as Land Rover, is now officially imported by City Automobiles. General manager Danai Chandranham said the company has invested in upgrading its facility along with maintenance equipment, tools and technology necessary to service Jaguar vehicles in Thailand.
“A dedicated and highly trained Jaguar team will be on hand for sales and after sales requirements, with focus on delivering exceptional levels of satisfaction to Thai customers,” he said.
