LG's curved-screen TVs hit Thai market

LG Electronics (Thailand) has officially launched the world's first curved-screen LG Curved OLED 55-inch TV (EA9800 model) in the Thai market.

LG Electronics (Thailand) managing director Yeon Ho Jung said that LG Curved OLED TV is a new phenomenon in the TV industry. It is a true revolution in display technology, and the result of five years of product research and development, he said.
It was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in January.
Alongkorn Chujit, LG Electronics (Thailand) deputy managing director, said LG’s achievement of more than 40,084-inch LG Ultra HD TV sales demonstrates that this technology has been overwhelmingly embraced by Thai consumers. So, it developed the 65-inch and 55-inch LG Ultra HD TV models to respond to the needs of consumers who live in condominiums or where space is at a premium.
“With enhanced technology and features that meet premium lifestyle needs, we are confident that this product will be a key factor for LG to maintain its global leadership in the TV market both in Thailand and worldwide,” said Alongkorn.
LG has allocated a Bt150-million budget for 360-degree marketing activities to promote the LG Curved OLED TV and LG Ultra HD TV, focusing on building direct customer experiences to create brand awareness and differentiation.
“The target group for our latest innovative home entertainment products is technology enthusiasts who are looking for the best and most advanced innovations. We have set a sales target for the LG Curved OLED TV of 500 units and 5,000 units for the 65-inch and 55-inch LG Ultra HD TV. At the end of the year, we are aiming to have secured 21 per cent market share,” said Alongkorn.
