Continental’s new MC6 tyre impresses in braking, cornering and handling tests

Continental is hoping to capture a bigger slice of the high-performance tyre market in the Asia-Pacific region with the recent launch of the MaxContact MC6 in Thailand.
The German tyremaker recently staged the launch and testing event of the new model at the Bra Circuit in Pattaya, with automotive media coming from Asia-Pacific markets including China.
Compared to its predecessor, the MC6 boasts significant improvements, whether in terms of wet and dry handling, wet braking and mileage performance.
The MC6 features multi-functional tread design that enhances grip and handling while reducing braking distances and cornering speed.
There is also an adaptive grip compound that maintains high grip levels on all road surfaces, while high-strength construction benefits cornering performance.Different parts of the Bira Circuit complex were used to stage testing stations comparing the MC6
with the older MC5.
Results were impressive, with the new tyre beating its predecessor by a wide margin in every test.
Unfortunately those driving vehicles with 15-inch rims won’t be able to enjoy the new Continental sports tyre. The MC6 is available in Thailand for rims with diametres of 16 to 19 inches, with prices ranging from Bt4,066 to Bt10,165 per tyre.
