Car sales increase in November

A total of 94,643 orders were placed for all makes of new vehicles in November, an increase of 21.2 per cent, according to figures supplied by Toyota Motor Thailand.

In a press release issued on Friday, the company said that passenger car sales reached 35,446 units, up 12.8 per cent, while 59,197 commercial vehicles were sold, equivalent to an increase of 26.9 per cent.
TMT vice president Suraphum Udomwong said auto sales in November were up due to increased popularity in new models and increasing demand, plus continuous sales promotions by auto retailers.
From January to November, auto sales have risen by 21 per cent to 928,158 units compared to the corresponding period last year. Passenger car and commercial markets grew by 17.9 per cent and 23 per cent respectively.
“December sales are expected to continue growing thanks to signs of economic and political stability,” he said. “Government investment projects are clearer and the Thailand International Motor Expo in early December along with the promotions have benefited the auto market.”
“However there is concern over the conflict between China and the US, although it has not affected the market considerably,” Suraphum said.
