Chiang Mai’s beautiful Doi Mon Jam viewpoint overlooking the Mae Rim valley and Royal Projects has been prepared for an influx of tourists over the New Year weekend.

Officials said more than 1,200 hotels in the area are fully booked and over 5,000 people are expected to visit the viewpoint daily over the weekend. This is 10 per cent less than the same period last year.

Six parking spaces have been set up with a total capacity of 2,000 cars, traffic routes have been cleared and emergency units have been put on standby.
