TAT adds unique tour packages, low-carbon travel to its 2023 awards list

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2023

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will ad two new categories in this year’s “Thailand Tourism Awards” – tour programmes and low carbon and sustainability.

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn told the press that it is handing out these awards in a bid to boost the quality of tourism products and services to ensure they meet global standards.

“The award also aims to boost confidence among tourists,” he added.

Yuthasak said these new categories are important for Thailand to achieve sustainable tourism goals. He said they were also in line with the government’s bio-circular-green economic model.

The highest award is the Thailand Tourism Gold Award, followed by silver, tourism certificate and “hall of fame”.

The awards are granted based on many criteria, including sustainable tourism, responsible tourism, low carbon and sustainability management, safety and health administration, and travellers’ interests.

Award winners will have more opportunities to market their products and services, while TAT will also invite them to participate in its promotional and marketing activities.

Travel businesses have until April 30 to join the contest via www.thailandtourismawards.com.

Winners will be announced on September 8, while the awards will be handed out on World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27.
