Thundershowers forecast for most parts of Thailand

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2023

Isolated thundershowers are forecast for the lower Northeast, the East, the lower Central and South regions of Thailand on Saturday, while isolated heavy rains are likely in the South.

The Thailand Meteorological Department said these conditions were brought by the moderate high-pressure system over upper Vietnam and the South China Sea, which is expected to reach the upper Northeast of Thailand on Saturday, as well as the easterly winds prevailing over the East, the lower Central and the South.

People should beware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. The department urged all transport to exercise caution.

Waves a metre high and over 2 metres high during thundershowers were expected in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, the department said.

The areas likely to be affected by the thundershowers are:

Northeast: Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Set and Ubon Ratchathani.

Central: Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Ratchaburi, Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Bangkok metropolitan area.

South: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
