1,400 metres long fireworks to usher in the New Year at Chao Phraya

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2023

Approximately 50,000 fireworks spanning 1,400 metres will be set off at the iconic riverside landscape of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok to usher in the New Year tonight.

It would be the longest fireworks show in Thailand’s history.
This spectacular fireworks display is part of the "Amazing Thailand Countdown 2023" event at ICONSIAM.

The show will be created with seven themes based on the concept of "Win the World for Thailand”, emphasising ICONSIAM's status as a globally recognised countdown destination.

According to the statement, the fireworks performance is directed by Okuchi Yoshimasa, a world-renowned Japanese fireworks director, in collaboration with the Thai international company, Brother Picker Limited.

They said that the grandeur of the fireworks at ICONSIAM's "Amazing Thailand Countdown 2023" event stems from its complete representation of the concept of "Love for the World”.

Meanwhile, in order to meet global green trends, Yoshimasa stressed that all of the fireworks used in the show are environmentally friendly.

"I made them [the fireworks] out of glutinous rice. These fireworks are kinder to the environment. So that everyone can enjoy the show while maintaining a sense of sustainability," he explained.

According to the ICONSIAM website, the fireworks show was now ready for everyone to witness the great auspicious moment of transitioning into the New Year.
