Paetongtarn posted four photos of Thaksin with her daughter and son in the swimming pool at the Chan Song Lar residence on her Instagram page, saying the kids were having a good time at Grandpa’s house and didn’t want to return home.
Two photos showed the 74-year-old Thaksin smiling and lifting dumbbells as he gazed at his grandchildren.
The other two other photos showed him holding his granddaughter and grandson – one at a time – in the swimming pool.
Thaksin was released on parole on February 18 after spending six months in detention at the Police General Hospital with undisclosed medical problems. He returned from self-imposed exile in August last year after Pheu Thai, over which he is thought to retain strong influence, took power at the head of the government coalition.
He initially faced a total of eight years in prison for corruption and abuse of power stemming from his coup-shortened time as prime minister.
However, he was rushed to the hospital on the night of his return after doctors said he was too ill to stay in jail. His sentence was commuted by royal pardon to one year soon after.
Poor health and old age were cited as the main reasons for his early release after serving just half of his reduced sentence.
