Suthichai Yoon, adviser to NMG’s editorial board, was appointed coach of the centre.
The centre’s mission will include enhancement and creation of the group’s network of business partners both in and outside the country in order to cope with rapid changes in the world’s mass media.
To achieve NMG’s goal, Suthichai said he was committed to seeking opportunities to incubate start-ups and new entrepreneurs in media and media-related businesses. This is aimed at providing customers with a variety of content in quick time.
“I have closely monitored changes in technology that have affected media people throughout my life as a professional mediaman. I have pushed all media people in our organisation to adjust themselves continuously,” revealed Suthichai.
He added: “The establishment of the Nation Media Innovation Centre will be a big jump for us to create innovations in the media industry and strengthen our group with sustainable growth.”
Suthichai said the Nation Media Innovation Centre would study and trial new methods of media presentation using texts, virtual, audio, video, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and digital games in order to serve the needs of customers of all ages and occupations.
Speaking of the business model, he said it would involve its own investments, joint ventures with other partners, and incubating media start-ups and entrepreneurs. He said The Nation would reclaim its legacy as a trendsetter in the media industry in keeping with its pioneering efforts in the region for 45 years.
“As a founder of NMG, I have jointly strengthened it and I have already handed over the group’s media management to my successors ,” Suthichai said.
“So, this is the right time for me to enter into a new role, as a coach, to open up the way for media innovation with accountability to the public,” he said.
