The three villages were also blacked out because power poles and cables were destroyed by floods.
The floods also damaged a bridge linking the three villages to the main road, causing them to be inaccessible.
At press time, Surachai was seeking a portable bridge from the Disaster Prevention Zone 8 head office to establish a link to the villages so that rescuers could go in to help the villagers.
Surachai said the three villages house some 300 families. The villagers were not warned of the floods in advance. Most of their houses and farm animals were washed away while they were asleep.
Surachai said he had mobilized Army and civilian volunteers to help the villagers but could not access the villages so far. He had to call the villager leaders using mobile phones to check latest situation.
He said the killed villagers and missing ones had yet to be identified.
