Washington - Fighter jets were scrambled to escort two airliners on Sunday after crew became suspicious of passengers spending too long in the toilet, amid heightened security for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, new reports said.
Two military jets escorted an American Airlines Boeing 767, which had left from Los Angeles, into New York's Kennedy airport, after three passengers made repeated lengthy toilet visits, the Daily News website reported.

Detroit television station WXYZ-TV reported that some of the suspicious passengers on the Frontier Airlines flight were thought to be having sex in the toilet.
Both planes landed safely, no devices were found and there was no suspicion of terrorist activity, the Daily News said.
In New York, three of the passengers were detained, questioned and released. In Denver, three passengers were taken into custody, the report said.
