NBTC launches measures to help out

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has launched five measures to help flood victims, which include asking mobilephone operators to delay the payment period for prepaid users and to waive some fees, NBTC commissioner Supinya

The agency has also told all TV channels and radio stations to broadcast updates from the Flood Relief Operations Command (FROC) at 10am, 4pm and 10pm every day for a month, she said.

The NBTC is also setting up a coordination centre at Don Mueang Airport, where the FROC has been set up, to ensure that there is no breakdown in telecommunications. In addition, she said, community radio stations in affected areas could contact the NBTC for help at any time.
Supinya added that the NBTC would also come up with a master plan.
