Bhumibhol Dam opens sluice gate to release water

Boon-in Chuenchavalit, the director of Bhumibhol Dam, said the dam had to open a sluice gate Thursday to release water after the water level in the dam had risen a lot.
Boon-in said the sluice gate had to be opened after a hydro power generator became overheated and it needed to be shut down for maintenance.
He said about 90 million cubic metres flew into the dam’s reservoir each day and the dam operated all of its generators on around-the-clock basis for ten consecutive days, causing one of them to be overheated.
The sluice gate is expected to be closed within the same day.
