Three Muslim men killed in Narathiwat

Narathiwat - Three Muslim men were killed in a drive-by shooting on their way to buy rubber trees in this southern border province Thursday morning.

The shooting occurred at 9:30 am on the Tanyongmus-Dusongyor Road in Pungo village in Tambon Kalisa in Rangae district.
Police said Muesoh Ali, 44, his brother, Masolae Alee, 37 and another man, Mahama Waemamu, 19, were shot dead in their pick-up truck.
Yaniya Ali, 29, a brother of Muesoh and Masolae, said Muesoh was driving his pick-up truck to bring the four to buy rubber trees at a plantation when they were attacked.
Yaniya said a pick-up truck caught up with them and opened fire into the driver and the front passenger seats, killing the three.
Yaniya said he was riding at the back of the truck and he fired back at the attackers with his pistol, sending the other truck to flee the scene.
Police said the shooting might be motivated by business conflict but police would not rule out insurgency.
