Eight people were killed and 51 others were injured when a Chiang Mai-Bangkok bus lost control and crashed into a LPG gas station’s fence in Lampang’s Thoen district Wednesday early morning. It was suspected that the bus driver dozed off behind wheel.
Following the accident report at 00.30am, police and rescue workers rushed to the “Pong Kham Gas” station on Phaholyothin Highway’s 621st-622nd kilometre marker to find the wrecked bus of New Wiriya Yanyon Co Ltd. They rescued 51 injured passengers out of the bus to nearby hospitals and found at the scene eight bodies, four men and four women.
