Land mine kills three, injures one

An anti-tank land mine exploded in the border province of Sa Kaew yesterday afternoon killing three soldiers and seriously wounding another member of a bomb disposal team.
The team had gone there to disable the land mine, which had been planted along the border since the era of Cambodia’s civil war.
When the bomb suddenly went off at about 1.30pm, Lieutanant Krissana Yapila, Sgt-Major Kong-anan Boon-aram and Sergeant Pichit Wong-bor were killed instantly, while Master Sergeant Sittichai Waicharoern, sustained critical injuries.
Sittichai is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Officials have cordoned off the area and are inspecting the site.
