Ten southern provinces warned of heavy rains, giant waves

Residents of ten southern provinces were Wednesday warned to brace themselves for heavy rains and possible flash floods from Wednesday until New Year Day.
Those living on the coastal areas were also warned of giant waves during the same period, said Wibul Sanguanpong, the director-general of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department.
The ten provinces are Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Pattai, Satun, Narathiwat, Krabi and Trang.
Small boats were told not to leave the shore during the period.
