Sondhi fined Bt4,000 for failing to show up for court verdict

Sondhi Limthongkul, a co-leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy, was Monday fined Bt4,000 by the Criminal Court for failing to show up to hear a court verdict related to his Manager Group.

Sondhi, the founder of the Manager Group, was supposed to hear the verdict by the Criminal Court on January 19 but he claimed he was receiving a medical treatment in China. He was accused of violating the Securities Exchange Commission Act by filing false statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand during October 8 to 31 1996 about the Manager Group’s account.
On January 19, the Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against Sondhi so he turned himself to the court Monday. The court ordered him to hear the verdict on February 28.
