Cabinet establishes single-command panel to handle water management

The Cabinet Tuesday approved the establishment of a single-command authority for the country's water management and flood prevention.
This new authority, which operates under the National Water Policy and Flood Committee (NWPFC), will have a very important mission to accomplish as the 2011 flood crisis has really wreaked much havoc in the country.
The Cabinet Tuesday responded to the Strategic Committee for Water Resources Management (SCWRM) proposal that the single-command authority be set up.
SCWRM will provide advice and recommendations to the NWPFC.
Chaired by the prime minister, NWPFC will have the Water Management and Flood Committee (WMFC) under its command.
