Wichai said yesterday that he and other members of the board were preparing documents to file a lawsuit against Witthaya, who used his position as chairman of the NHSO board to change the previous resolution. Wichai added that the board had given the Public Health permanent secretary the job of selecting subcommittee members, not becoming a member of the panels himself.
However, Witthaya’s amendment made Paijit chairman of two important subcommittees, which were in charge of setting NHSO strategies and benefits for subscribers. Wichai said putting Paijit in that position would give him the power to change the NHSO principle and thus affect the public.
Wichai said Witthaya was holding a board meeting on Friday to name a replacement for the financial expert who has resigned, and that it was rumoured the minister would choose someone he could order about, regardless of whether this person is suitable for the job. He said he wouldn’t attend the meeting and would file a separate lawsuit if anything illegal stems from it.
Paijit currently serves as chairman for NHSO’s subcommittee on strategic management and one for benefit and service system development.
